John Long: The Only Rule That Counts
The greatest riches lie at the end of your dreams
    Arctic Gold
The best bet I ever lost was with Andy Burr over which of us was crazy enough to jump off the 50-plus-foot Henningsvaser, Norway, bridge. At home I jump into the Colorado River after nearly every climbing trip, and at my first look at the bridge, I said, “I’ve run bigger waterfalls than this in my kayak. I’m jumping in.”
    Climber Eric Brand Dies
On September 30, Eric Brand went into the home he shared with his wife, Carol, in Silver City, New Mexico, lay down on the couch and never woke up. Throughout his 50 years, Eric followed his own path with intensity and determination, and it is difficult to grasp that someone with so much passion for living on the edge could leave in so peaceful a way.
TNB: Chris Sharma and The Art of Jeep Maintenance
The scorched desert expanse surrounding Las Vegas smears together into one terrible brown color as Chris Sharma, Dalia Ojeda, Miguel and I whiz along at 90 miles per hour in an old Jeep Grand Cherokee. The American West, this celebrated frontier, as tame as it has become with commercialism and super highways, is still the last good place I know of for real adventure.
    Globe Hanglobe Review
This is a full-service board with three usable slopers, three ample and comfortable edges (though no micro ones), and scrolled-edge, shoulder-width jugs that almost make chin-ups a pleasure.
