John Long: What I've Learned

Cragging in the Bay Area
I had never kissed a girl, so when a naked one came up to me and started asking questions about the climb I had just tried, I was a little thrown. Climber Hugh Herr Honored by Esquire Magazine
Who knew that a climber's accident and desire to return to his sport would some day benefit wounded soldiers?

Hugh Herr, once a leading climber, appeared in Esquire's recent theme Genius Issue, credited for being at the forefront of the prosthetics field.

Camelbak Better Bottle and Nalgene Everyday BPA-Free bottles
Earlier this year, a rash of studies suggested that the chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) mimics estrogen, the primary female sex hormone. Scientists speculated that BPA could be causing problems like breast enlargement and reduced sperm counts in men. Concurrent with the studies, BPA was shown to leach from plastic water bottles, the kind most of us climbers use.
