Climb Safe

Features

TNB: The Only Blasphemy
John Bachar laces up his boots and cinches the sling on his chalk bag. “Ready?” Only then do I realize he means to climb all two thousand feet solo, without a rope. To save face, I agree, thinking: Well, if he suggests something too crazy, I’ll just draw the line. I was the first to start soloing out at Josh anyhow.
El Cajon Climbing Crag Bolts Chopped
San Diego's premier crag, El Cajon, has been targeted by an individual bent on removing or destroying fixed anchors and bolts. According to local Chris Hubbard, who co-authored the San Diego County Climbing Guide with Dave Kennedy, the vandal has chopped 16 100-foot sport pitches at El Cajon and several routes at Mission Gorge.
Bob Bates, 96, Takes His Final Journey
Bob Bates, expeditionary mountaineer and honorary president of the American Alpine Club, died on September 13 at the age of 96 in Exeter, New Hampshire, in a most unlikely place, his bed. He was one of the most beloved mountaineers in America.

Bob climbed in Alaska, the Yukon and the Karakoram at a time when a cell phone and a helicopter could not bail you out.
Arco Climbing Comp, the Face of 2010
The mighty Grimer and the world's best climbers square off at Arco.
Five Ten Coyote Shoe Review
Now available in a lace version, the Coyote is an entry-level face-climbing shoe, featuring precision lacing nearly to the tip of the toes and a blunt chisel toe.
