The eighth annual Dominion Riverrock outdoor
sports and music festival took place this weekend in Richmond, Virginia, concluding late Sunday afternoon. The event was held on Brown’s Island and
Historic Tredegar in downtown Richmond, and featured a wide range of events such as trail running, kayaking, biking, slacklining, and most importantly,
The climbing wall attracted large crowds and showcased some of the nation’s top climbers in two competitions—the Boulder Bash bouldering comp on
Friday and Saturday, and the Speed Comp on Sunday.
Brooke Raboutou, 15, swept the women’s competition and claimed first place in both events.
Nathaniel Coleman claimed victory in the Boulder Bash on the men’s side. Solomon Barth took first place in the men’s Speed Comp, while Coleman finished
in second. Barth also finished second in Boulder Bash.
Boulder Bash qualifiers consisted of 23 men and 19 women. The top 15 climbers for men and women moved on to semifinals Saturday afternoon and the top 10
from semifinals competed in finals Saturday night.
The competition wall, constructed by Richmond-based Peak Experiences, was a 20-foot high and 30-foot deep cave built using metal, wood and fiberglass.
Climbers had five minutes to climb each problem in the qualifying and semifinal rounds, and six minutes in finals.

The Speed Comp, held on Sunday afternoon, consisted of two qualifying rounds. The top 10 fastest climbers based on cumulative
times from the qualifying rounds moved on to the first round of finals later in the day. The top six climbers from Finals Round 1 raced in Finals Round
2 immediately after.
