potter's freebase eiger ascent hits nbc
Online News Article
Dean Potter's daring freeBASE ascent of the Eiger in Switzerland will be broadcast October 11 at 2:30pm EST on NBC's JEEP World of Adventure Sports.
The climb, which occured on August 6, 2008, was the first of its kind on the Eiger. Potter climbed the 600 foot limestone headwall of "Deep Blue Sea" (5.12+) and its 5.12+ crux move with no rope and only a 5-pound BASE parachute pack to prevent him from the chance of near-certain death.
The NBC broadcast will feature an 18 minute segment produced by Sender Films that follows Potter's evolution as a freeBASE climber, chronicles the development of his BASE parachute protection, and showcases the Eiger ascent.
The segment is part of Sender Films latest release, The Sharp End, available on www.senderfilms.com.
