10-Year-Old Sends God's Own Stone (5.14a) in the Red
10-year-old Jonathan Horst has just climbed God's Own Stone (5.14a) in the Red River Gorge this past weekend. That makes him one of the youngest people to climb 5.14.
Brooke Raboutou also climbed God's Own Stone at age 10 in March of 2012. Tito Traversa of Italy climbed Sarsifal (5.14) in Tetto di Sarre, Italy, when he was 10.
Horst comes from a well-known climbing family--his father, Eric Horst, wrote the training guide How to Climb 5.12, and his older brother Cameron sent God's Own Stone last year at age 11.
