Robert Andrew Prosser, 60, of Edmonds, Washington, was killed January 13 in a fall from the top of an ice climb at milepost 8 of State Roue 155 near Coulee City. Prosser slipped off a narrow ledge at the top of the climb and fell approximately 200 feet. He was killed instantly. His obituary in The Seattle Times notes that "There was no equipment failure—it was a simple tragic accident."
Prosser was well-known at the Vertical World gym in Seattle, where he climbed every Wednesday. According to a post on cascadeclimbers.com, he was "soft spoken, really nice guy," who "never drank beer [after climbing at the gym] because he liked his wife better than the rest of us us. Probably a sign of good taste."
