Nalle Hukkataival has managed to repeat the mythical Bügeleisen (V14), which was established by Klem Loskot in 2001. The "impossible flat iron-shaped 6m Monster" as Loskot once described Bügeleisen, sits in the southern Austrian area of Maltatal and has only seen one repeat since the first ascent. Hukkataival managed to top out Bügeleisen for the problem's third ascent, but not without enduring a frustrating battle with conditions and sickness.
"Bügeleisen really is one of the BEST hard boulders in the world and that’s why I was pretty bummed that climbing such a great problem had to turn into an unenjoyable battle with other elements," writes Hukkataival on his blog.
Hukkataival marvels at the quality of Bügeleisen, however, and complements Loskot's vision for the first ascent.
He writes: "All I can say is if there were more hard lines of this QUALITY in the world, it would make me way more psyched to travel around trying to repeat things instead of mainly searching for those first ascents!"
