VIDEO: Petzl RocTrip Argentina
Caves, slots; huecos, edges, corners. Winding canyons, leaning towers, phantasmogoric rock bulges, bat hangs, and pistoleros. This video just out following the 10th annual Petzl RocTrip, a gathering of the company's athlete team. The rock trips began in Millau, France, and have moved around the world, stopping in the Shawangunks one year (where rain poured but everyone still had a good time), Kalymnos, Mexico, Squamish and Bishop.
Last year's trip was for new-routing in China, per our cover story on the Great Arch of Getu, issue 200, by Andrew Bisharat. See upcoming Argentina feature, with writing and photography by Will Hummel, who supplied our Teva Games Bouldering World Cup photo gallery last summer, and also the opener for our Andy Lewis feature, issue 207. (Rock and Ice digital editions available here.)
The international team of athletes included Dani Andrada, Sean Villeneuva, Dave Graham, Mike Fusilier, Martina Cufar, Florence Pinet, Charlotte Durif, Melissa La Neve, Jerome Pouvreau, Daniel du Lac, John Cardwell, Nick Duttle and Damian Benegas, an alpinist from the country who presented a visual history.
This trip also involved much new routing, and routes done were both one-pitch and multi-pitch.
"Don't Cry for Me, Argentina." Or for those who visit.
