    Video: Toru Nakajima Storms Colorado

    31-Dec-2012
    By

The Colorado high country still shakes in the wake of Toru Nakajima’s summer visit. In just three weeks, the 19-year-old phenom from Japan ticked four V13s and one V14 while staying in Boulder, Colorado.“Honestly I thought it was enough for me to do V13 in this trip, but I did it in about one hour. I was so surprised,” says in Nakajima in the video.

Suffering from the altitude, Nakajima still managed to send the slopey Clan of the Cave Bears (V13) within one hour of visiting Lincoln Lake. Nakajima went on to climb three more V13s during his trip, and then cranked the classic Dave Graham problem Big Worm (V14) at Mt. Evans. Twice.

“I was not filming the movie when I did it,” Nakajima explains in the video, “so I climbed it again.”

Nakajima shows no signs of slowing down. He has recently made headlines with the third ascent of Dai Koyamada’s Tokoyo (V15) located in Kasagi, Japan. Interestingly, the second ascent of Tokoyo was made by a Japanese climber who wishes to remain anonymous, according to UKClimbing.com.

Here is the video of Nakajima's tear through Colorado.
