The Psicobloc Masters deep-water-soloing competition is one of the wildest events in climbing, with two competitors racing identical routes side-by-side, free solo, to the top of the fifty-foot wall above the Olympic Park aerial ski training pool in Park City, Utah. Here, a climber falls short of the top and makes the long plunge back to the pool.

Kiersch pulls ahead as Weidner cuts loose with nothing but bubbling water below her feet.
And Weidner takes the plunge! Kiersch, who won the competition last year, went on to face Kyra Condie in the final round, after beating Allison Vest in round two and Charlotte Durif in round three. Kiersch lost to Condie in the end and took second place.
Nina Williams eyes her opponent, Tori Perkins, before the call to mount the wall in the first round. Perkins proved victorious but was eliminated by Barbara Zangerl in the next round.
Delaney Miller (left) faces Lily Canavan (right) in the first round. Miller won the round and moved on to compete against Charlotte Durif in round two.
