John Long: It Started with a Pile of Stones
Chasing ghosts on Hawaiian sea cliffs.
    Arctic Gold
The best bet I ever lost was with Andy Burr over which of us was crazy enough to jump off the 50-plus-foot Henningsvaser, Norway, bridge. At home I jump into the Colorado River after nearly every climbing trip, and at my first look at the bridge, I said, “I’ve run bigger waterfalls than this in my kayak. I’m jumping in.”
    Mike Foley: Never Enough
Mike Foley likes to draw, usually portraits, in charcoal. He spends anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days on a given drawing. “I like stuff that involves a lot of fine-detail work,” he says. “I’m pretty meticulous like that.” He also likes complex, “minute-detail” climbs.
    An Encounter with Fred
Joe Josephson phoned with an interesting proposal: Fred Beckey had come to town for a reunion of Montana's Dirty Sox Club, a guild of Montana climbers from the 1960s through the 1980s.

If anyone has earned an honorary membership in a group named Dirty Sox it is Washington's Fred Beckey, sovereign of American DirtBag Climbers.
    Boreal Pirana Shoe Review
The Piranha seems like a sexed up version of last year's Boreal Joker, which I liked. It has a more aggressive rand that slingshots and compresses your feet into powerful paws, but not so much that it brutalizes your toes or requires a black-belt in thumb wrestling to get on.
