    Climb Safe

    Features

John Long: It Started with a Pile of Stones
Chasing ghosts on Hawaiian sea cliffs.
    The Prophet
In 2001, Leo Houlding and Jason Pickles made an audacious ground-up, no-drill, on-sight attempt to free climb a new route on El Cap. Nine years later, The Prophet finally spoke.
    Layton Kor Dies
Layton Kor, one of America’s greatest and most revered climbers of all time, has died. Kor rose to prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960 by establishing a string of first ascents that included Castleton, The Titan and Standing Rock in Canyonlands, the Naked Edge in Eldorado, the South Face of Washington Column in Yosemite, the Yellow Wall on the Diamond, and Proboscis in The Yukon.
TNB: Chris Sharma and The Art of Jeep Maintenance
The scorched desert expanse surrounding Las Vegas smears together into one terrible brown color as Chris Sharma, Dalia Ojeda, Miguel and I whiz along at 90 miles per hour in an old Jeep Grand Cherokee. The American West, this celebrated frontier, as tame as it has become with commercialism and super highways, is still the last good place I know of for real adventure.
    PSOLAR BX BALACLAVA
THIS FACE MASK’S gimmick is a “thermal conversion module”—basically a wedge of foam that seats under the nose and over the mouth, designed to capture warmth on the exhalation and use that trapped heat to warm air on the inhalation.
