ABOUT THE LOCATIONOuray has a variety of rock including conglomerate sandstone and limestone. The Pool Wall, near the hot springs pool, is the local favorite crag. Some routes are rope accessed. Rock and Ice staff will provide fixed ropes and help you get into position. This area is among Colorado's most scenic, and was the location for John Wayne's movie True Grit.
ENROLL IN THE ROCK AND ICE 2014 CLIMBING PHOTO CAMPNow in its eighth year, this three-day course puts you in the field as a professional photographer, under the watchful eye of climbing’s top pro shooters. Learn the tricks for lighting, composition, getting in position, anticipating movement and more, from the photographers who have succeeded in the field.
