Pulley Injury?

Dr. J,

I was bouldering yesterday, and, as I reached for the next move with my right hand I suddenly heavily weighted a two finger hold with my left hand. I definitely felt a pop (somewhat like as if I had cracked my fingers) and had mild pain thereafter. After asking around and researching a bit, it seems that I have some sort of pulley injury. My question, however, is what should I do about this? Mainly, should I go see someone and when can I start climbing again? Any help would be much appreciated!

Left out some important details..  The injury was to my left ring finger.  After the injury, there was no swelling or bruising only very mild pain.  I tried to climb a V0 with big holds etc. afterwards to see how it felt and I had no trouble whatsoever; not really any pain either.  I stopped climbing after that thinking that I had probably mildly strained it and should at least rest it.  Hope this helps.

Ahoy!

I haven't answered a pulley injury question for a while in the column, so if you don't mind I wont answer you here, but rather via email.
