Daniel Woods put up a new V15 in Rocklands, South Africa last week. He established a left exit to Rocklands’ classic Ray of Light (V13), which adds another V13 onto Ray of Light’s crux. Woods calls the new cave exit Spray of Light and gave it the V15 grade.
According to his 8a.nu scorecard, Spray of Light is Woods’ 20th V15 and his 11th first ascent at the grade.
Woods is no Rocklands stranger, having sent Monkey Wedding (V15) in 2013 [WATCH: Daniel Woods Repeating Monkey Wedding (V15)] and eight V14s, including classics Golden Shadow, Speed of Sound and Oliphant’s Dawn, since 2008. He has also claimed two V14 first ascents, Sky and Derailed, in Rocklands, as well as two V13 FAs, Fragile Steps and El Corazon.
Daniel Woods on Spray of Light (V15):
A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks and I have failed to post what has went down so here we go. I added a left exit to the classic “Ray of Light” (v13) which tacks on another v13 out the left side of the cave. The line is called “Spray of Light” (v15). @syknar put together this sick Insta banger of the send.
