Dave Graham Repeats Spray of Light (V15)
Dave Graham makes the first repeat of Spray of Light (V15) in Rocklands, South Africa.
Dave Graham made the first repeat of Spray of Light (V15) at the Dihedral Boulders in Rocklands, South Africa.
“SUPER SYKED!!!” Graham posted on Instagram. “Finally managed to make the second ascent of [Daniel Woods’] new power test-piece Spray of Light (V15) after struggling HARD with the heat and humidity we have been dealing with over the last month!!!”
Woods established Spray of Light this July—a left exit to Rocklands’ classic Ray of Light (V13). Spray of Light adds another V13 sequence onto Ray of Light’s crux.
“Every session I grew fonder of the moves and the actual climbing,” Graham wrote. “The urge to link the whole sequence began to be overwhelming, but with the uncooperative heat wave it was starting to seem like a dream, something only in my mind, not an actual real event that could exist in this time and space.”
Graham, 33, is a bouldering machine. Spray of Light is his 14th V15—seven of which are first ascents. In July, he sent his 67th V14 with his first ascent of Hatchet Prow, also in Rocklands.
“Climbing is such an amazing game of belief, concentration, and execution, and I feel really lucky my life revolves around this game, it teaches one so much about life in general.
“Thanks to the homies who came to spot or support the epic.”
Daniel Woods sending Spray of Light (V15):
A lot has happened the last two weeks and I have failed to post so here we go. I did the left exit to “Ray of Light” (v13) which adds another v13 after the Ray of light crux. Was sick to connect the dots and get all physical on this rig. I called it Spray of Light (v15). Sam Tingy aka @syknar put together this nice insta banger of the send.
