“We’re not trying to hook a fish for you. We’re trying to teach you how to fish.”
– John Long

More from the students themselves:
In 2017, I participated in the John Long Writing Symposium in Carbondale, CO. John Long, the R&I staff and the guest
writers shared their adventure writing artistry with reverence. The insight, encouragement, and tools I received exceeded
my expectations. I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I completed, “A Love Story – One Pitch at a Time.” I now know what it takes to be a great adventure writer thanks to the JLWS.
