Boreal Stingma

Boreal classifies the Stingma as their new high-performance shoe. Unfortunately, the mellow slingshot heel and lacing system don't provide enough tension for serious face climbing, although the shoe strikes a decent balance with comfort.

Boreal Stingma Climbing Shoe Review By Rock & Ice Magazine

Boreal Stingma Climbing Shoe$133

  • Steep rock: 2.5 Star
  • Face climbing: 2 Star
  • Long routes: 1.5 Star
  • Upper: Leather, unlined
  • Rubber: 4-4.6mm Fusion 3

Boreal classifies the Stingma as their new high-performance shoe. Unfortunately, the mellow slingshot heel and lacing system don’t provide enough tension for serious face climbing, although the shoe strikes a decent balance with comfort. Similarly, the forefoot fit and last aren’t aggressive enough for the Stingma to rage on the steeps. This is a versatile technical performer that doesn’t excel at any one thing. The Stingma suits climbers with a medium to wide forefoot.

Decent all-around technical performance.
