…get ready for the climbing trip of a lifetime…

Who are we?

Rockbusters is a small international company that was born out of pure enthusiasm and love for climbing, traveling, nature, and an independent climbing lifestyle. We prefer to call Rockbusters a community, rather than a company. We are made up of a network of friends, climbing guides, and coaches who operate in different climbing destinations throughout Europe.

Sponsored by Rockbusters

Our passion for climbing is what drives us and we want to share that passion. Whoever comes to climb with us can expect a personalized approach with professional coaching and guiding. All of our clients are guaranteed to improve their climbing technique, belaying skills, and lead climbing capabilities, and to gain more confidence in managing overall safety at the crag. One of our main aims is to take our clients’ climbing to the next level!

Each of us on the Rockbusters team has substantial experience working with climbers of all levels, from beginners to the highly advanced, and we are all dedicated to working together toward our shared goal—our clients’ complete satisfaction. We always do our best to provide our clients with the ultimate climbing experience, which to us means maximum time on the rock, as much climbing improvement as possible, and, last but not least, an unlimited amount of fun.

Where and what do we climb?

There is so much great climbing around Europe! We have chosen the best spots to accommodate our camps and events. But as climbing is an ever-changing universe, we have never stopped looking for and exploring new places to be included in our schedule.

We have a very international crew of guides and we host all of our current climbing camps at the top climbing spots in Europe! Our trips vary from year to year, but some of our most popular trip destinations include such famous places as Ceüse and Gorges du Tarn in France; Rodellar, Margalef, and Siurana in Spain; Frankenjura in Germany; and Finale Ligure in Italy.

This is by no means a complete list. Since our offer of climbing camps and courses also includes bouldering, trad, and multi-pitch climbing, the places we take our clients are literally scattered throughout the whole of Europe. If ropes aren’t your thing, you can expect us to take you to Albarracín, Spain’s mecca for bouldering. Those who want to experience the badass mental battles of trad sandstone climbing are welcome to join us in the picturesque valley of the river Elbe in the Czech Republic. For the lovers of breathtaking mountain scenery, we run multi-pitch climbing camps in the vibrant European mountaineering capital of Chamonix, France. And if you feel like trying out the purest, most care-free form of climbing, come to see us in Mallorca, where we let you taste the best of DWS (deep water soloing).

Who are the people that come to climb with us?

Our clientele has been as varied as our team. We cater to the needs of (almost) anybody. We work with both men and women from a variety of different professions, ages, and cultural backgrounds, in various stages of life. We encourage climbers of all levels to join us.

We are ready to help you make the step from gym to crag or to perform enthusiastically as your belay bunny while you project hard routes. The only requirement for our trips, camps, and climbing clinics is the desire to climb (as much as possible) and to have fun meeting new people and discovering new places.

Everyone has the chance to learn from the world’s best.

We have worked hard to get literally the world’s top climbers on board. We are now happy to be able to arrange unique and unforgettable experiences for those interested in learning from the best and the strongest. Does Adam Ondra sound familiar? Check out the next date of our pro-climber workshop to personally meet, hang out with, and climb with Adam. We have also hosted coaching clinics with Klemen Bečan, Patxi Usobiaga, and Hazel Findlay that are guaranteed to improve your mental as well as physical climbing skills and to positively influence your approach to climbing. Women of all ages can enjoy our girls-only climbing camps with Daila Ojeda while pushing their limits in a comfortable, women-friendly environment.

Okay, we can get you a lot of climbing… What else?

More climbing! Once you come to climb with us you can be sure to get as much climbing as you can possibly take in one trip. Those who feel like it can climb from dusk till dawn whenever conditions allow.

The great thing with Rockbusters is that signing up for a trip with us means that you don’t need to worry about anything other than climbing. What you can expect is a completely hassle-free climbing adventure.

You get your flight tickets. We sort out all the logistics—airport pick-up and drop-off, accommodations, transport to and from the crags—and we provide the climbing equipment, including ropes, quickdraws, and helmets. Signing up for a Rockbusters trip makes a climbing vacation in Europe simple. No need to spend hours on online research, hauling your gear on the airplane, or buying and studying guidebooks.

Additionally, we will share with you our extensive knowledge of the areas we visit. We draw on our experience with the crags to introduce our clients to the most interesting climbs and to recommend particular routes tailored to an individual’s needs and skills.

Is it really just climbing?

Though we all have decided to devote our lives to climbing, we come from very diverse and varied backgrounds. We can share more than just route betas and training tips. With Rockbusters you will have the opportunity to travel through varied landscapes and get cultural experiences throughout Europe. We can provide information about each area we climb in as well as travel tips for your rest days.

On some of our trips you can experience a delicious locally sourced dinner cooked by Erin Lingle, a professional chef who specializes in Spanish and Mediterranean food. A plate of a good food at the end of a hard day climbing is definitely a nice treat.

Coming to any of the Rockbusters trips will immerse you in what we call the climbing culture. Climbing for us is much more than a physical activity. It’s meeting people from all around the world, making friends, sharing worldviews, getting to know new places and cultures, eating local food, living simply, loving nature, and enjoying great landscapes. Though it may sound like a cliché, we don’t just climb, we try to live climbing.

At Rockbusters our motto is Climbers for Climbers.

Take it from Betsy, a participant on one of our trips—Rocbusters is the way to go!

I joined Rockbusters for the Europe Trip, from Finale Ligure to Rodellar, and it was so fun that I stayed for another week to deep water solo in Mallorca. It was my second Rockbusters trip after I went on a trip to Basque Country in Spain in 2015. It was amazing and I was eager to come back.

I came alone, and it was great! I wouldn’t have been able to come if I’d had to find a friend who could get the same time off work, so it was helpful just to know that I’d have people to climb with for the whole time. Then, of course, I loved traveling with Zbynek and Erin, and I met a lot of wonderful people over the course of the trip.

I had been climbing moderate trad for several years, so I was very comfortable belaying and building anchors, but I was not very comfortable falling or pushing my leading limits. For the first four weeks, my redpoint level improved one grade each week. I became more confident leading and definitely much stronger.

Camping and climbing is a fantastic way to see another country. I loved exploring the different crags and the towns that we stayed in. The places we climbed were so beautiful—I spent a lot of time taking photos as well. I think it was really relaxing to not have to make very many decisions and to just focus on practical concerns each day. Also I met a lot of awesome people!

I got along with the other participants really well. Everyone was really friendly and kind, and I met a lot of people whom I hope to stay in touch with long term. When I climbed with Rockbusters in 2015, I met a good friend with whom I still climb several times a year—we’re meeting next week in Joshua Tree.

Finally, here’s an interview with our founder and CEO, Jany Novotny, from the Czech Republic.

How did you get the idea to start Rockbusters?

Jany: I was always up to skiing, climbing and doing all sort of bit crazy things. Even though I have finished univiersity and have a master’s degree in Social Politics and Social Work I never really went for real job. I always tried to survive working in ski shops, ski service, as ski instructor or as bungee jumping guide… I spent all my time skiing and climbing. I knew that I wanted to live like this and the only option was to find a way to make money out of it. Another important thing was to do it my way, and so here we are with Rockbusters and Snowbusters.

When did Rockbusters start? How long has it been running?

Jany: It started about 10 years ago. I built the web site and guided my own clients.

Tell us about the company name. Who came up with it and what does it mean?

Jany: I was sitting with my friend Alvaro from Argentina trying to figure out a cool name. I wanted it to be entertaining, easy to remember. Rockbusters justed pop out and I thought, “Not bad!”

What motivates you in your life and your work?

Jany: What a question! I think it is the will to live the life I want to live, to spend as much time in the mountains skiing and climbing, being with cool people who have similar values and views on life as me. Also I would like to create something meaningful, a good and quality brand, to share my experiences and passion for the sports I love.

Is there someone who inspires you in climbing? Or in running a company?

Jany: Not really. I like to do things my way… I operate much more friend-based than boss-employee relations, focused around sharing, cooperating… Of course it is not easy to set it all up: people are joining as the project is growing, but I guess that’s how it goes and I hope it goes the right direction!

Is there anything else you want to say about Rockbusters?

Jany: I can talk about Rockbusters for a long time but the best is always to form your own opinion from your own experience, so you are all invited to join us and see who we really are.

So? What are you waiting for?! Come see what Rockbusters is all about.
