Cedar Wright posted about this film on Instagram:Still one of the more outrageous climbing feats I’ve witnessed is [Erik Weihenmayer] nearly sightlessly onsighting The Naked Edge. … For those of you who don’t know of him, Erik is a blind climber and adventurer who has climbed the 7 summits, kayaked down the Grand Canyon in his own Kayak!!!… and probably in his most ludicrously dangerous pursuit, he’s paraglided solo with little bells hanging below him so he’d know when he was getting close to the ground!

“Besides being a bit of a career lunatic, Erik is is also an incredible public speaker and all around nice guy. Watching Erik climb is something I’ll never forget. I don’t think I had a true appreciation for how massively we depend on our vision to climb rocks, but on the other hand, how much of it is a tactile and intuitive art form. At times I’d watch Erik miraculously reach right for a perfect crimp in a sea of blank rock, or naturally find the right body position for the rock feature he was moving through…but…other times it was a more tenuous affair as he froze one arm locked off, the other hand frantically scanning the rock for the next hold. That’s when I began to loudly [shout] useless beta at him.. ha.

“Please enjoy the film and… even though this was shot 10 years ago… it’s not too late to donate to the [Access Fund] woohoo! Also big thanks to [Brady Robinson] and [Charley Mace] for rope gunning that day!”
