Rhyolite Wrangling, The Sequel: Nat vs. Mainliner (5.14a)
Nathaniel Gustafson writes, “I celebrated New Year’s Eve day by sending one of Northern New Mexico’s most aesthetic routes: Mainliner in the Jemez River Valley. Developed and first climbed in 1995 by Jean De Lataillde at 5.13c, Mainliner now weighs in at 5.14a due to hold breakage. This Las Conchas classic has seen a handful of ascents over the years, including a very impressive gear lead by Cody Roth. It taught me that if you can’t crack climb, dynoing is a viable option.”
