On January 15, 2014, Alex Honnold pulled off what may be the hardest free-solo of all time. The route he chose to climb ropeless is the 2,500-foot El Sendero Luminoso (5.12d) in El Potrero Chico, Mexico. Honnold climbed the 15 pitches (11 of which of graded 5.12) in three hours.
