When a Sherpa family is asked by a group of Westerners to lead a trek up the never-conquered East Wall of  7,710-meter-tall Kumbhakarna (Jannu), they’re confronted with a dilemma. It’s a sacred mountain that is not supposed to be ascended.

“The Wall of Shadows” follows this dilemma.

The expedition team consists of several of the best climbers in the world: Marcin Tomaszewski from Poland and two Russians, Dmitry Golovchenko and Sergey Nilov.

“The Wall of Shadows,” directed by Eliza Kubarska, premieres at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival 2020, and will be in cinemas in Europe in fall 2020.
