Ines Papert, Luka Lindic and Paul McSorley make a first ascent on Slanghoek, South Africa's highest big wall
In this Arc’teryx video, climbers Ines Papert (GER), Joseph Pfnur (GER), Luka Lindic (SLO) and Paul McSorley (CAN) head down to South Africa but….surprise, don’t climb at Rocklands. Instead, they hit the big walls. The team sets a beautiful new long climb, Ruby Supernova, on the Slanghoek, South Africa’s highest big wall, in the Du Toits Kloof Mountain, making the first ascent with all 13 pitches fully onsight and fully trad. The route went at 520 m VI 5.12c. They also repeat Private Universe, the only existing climb on Slanghoek, first sent by Hilton Davies back in 2002.
