Ueli Steck’s Everest-Lhotse Project
Ueli Steck’s “Everest-Lhotse Project,” with Tenji Sherpa, was to complete the first linkup of Everest and Lhotse by ascending the difficult and unrepeated
1963 Hornbein Couloir on Everest, descending to the South Col, then taking a direct line up Lhotse and returning back to Camp II, all without supplemental
oxygen.
On April 30, 2017, Steck died in a fall while climbing alone on Nuptse (7,861m), adjacent to Lhotse and Everest.
