Writes Scott Chuback, this week’s Whippee: “I was trying to onsight a route called Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic (5.12b) in Milton, Ontario. I was able to make it through the crux but pumped out and wasn’t able to clip the third draw.”

He goes on, “My partner and I have a 65-pound weight difference and have been climbing together for years. Usually I take big whips with her belaying without issue, but when I saw how fast we accelerated past one another I knew I was going to hit the ground. So I braced for it and it felt similar to jumping off a picnic table. In the end both of us made it out okay. Next attempt she wore my backpack loaded with rocks from the ground.”

Glad everyone was fine!

Happy Friday and climb safe this weekend!
