The deep water soloing at Tanque Verde Falls in Arizona is by no means world class, but deep water soloing in this country isn’t exactly in large supply, so you take what you can get.
Going back a couple years ago now, David and his friends were out at the Falls to mess around on the walls. While one of his friends prepares to do a backflip, David is across the way putting a lap on a new DWS line he established that very weekend. Called Crystal Licker, the climb goes at 5.10+. Right after his friend goes somersaulting into the water, David—as if on cue—follows suit on the opposite wall.
We give the backflip a 6 out of 10 (he doesn’t quite stick the landing, after all) and David’s fall a solid 7.
