As a beginning climber, stepping up for your first lead climb is down-right scary. The fear of taking your first real fall can be paralyzing. In this Weekend Whipper, we witness Hunter Carmichael attempting his third lead climb ever –  on the classic southern sandstone of Misty (5.10d) at Sandrock,
Alabama. On this snowy day, Hunter finally pushed himself hard enough while on lead to experience what is inevitable for every beginning climber –
his FIRST ever lead fall.

Do you remember your first fall? Tell us about it in the comments below.

This Weekend Whipper was submitted by Hansen Babington (spraying beta), Bob Blackburn and Hunter Carmichael.
