A good belay can save lives, and this Weekend Whipper proves it! Here, we visit England’s famed gritstone for a prime example of dangerous slab-climbing.
The climber places a nest of cams mid-way up the route, and then sets off for the top. But with a little drizzling rain creeping in, and a tenuous
rock-over near the top, the climber finds himself hurtling towards the ground, upside-down, with no helmet on. Lucky for him, the belayer has obviously
caught a fall or two, and coolly reels him in like a trophy fish and keeps him off the ground!
