Darren Flack takes a victory whip after flashing the route If Dreams Were Thunder (5.12b) on Sidewalk Buttress, Ten Sleep Canyon, Wyoming.
Intending to take whip, Flack skipped the last two bolts, hesitated for a moment at the chains, then made the leap.
“Between the skipped bolts, a generous belay loop, and 20 pounds on my belayer,” says Flack, “I took what I estimated to be at least a 70-foot whip.”
