“So my buddy took a big one the other day,” Matthew Rhodin tells Rock and Ice. His friend, John, was climbing Naked Truth (5.9) at Eagle Falls in upstate New York. John lost his grip, shot earth-bound, and when his top piece of protection—a cam placed behind “the
only flake available for pro”—blew, he really went for a ride.

When asked if he was good, John responded with an epic war cry—he was all right.

“The cam he had placed most likely pulled due to wet conditions,” Rhodin explains. “Really happy he was ok!”

Happy Friday and stay safe out there!
