Weekend Whipper: Responsible Lunges (25/5.12a), Paynes Ford, New Zealand
Ryan Bielenda catches his leg behind the rope and takes an inverted whipper on Responsible Lunges (25/5.12a) at Paynes Ford, South Island, New Zealand.
“I had the chains right at my chest level but didn’t have enough left to clip and lost it,” he tells Rock and Ice. “It’s the only time I’ve been pulled upside down by a rope behind my leg.” Fortunately the route was steep enough that Bielenda didn’t smash his head into the wall. He finished the route on his next attempt, clipping the anchor from a better stance.
Happy Friday and climb safe this weekend!
